The COVID-19 global pandemic is a unique challenge that has impacted many members of the IEEE family and some of you are directly or indirectly engaged in the fight against it. We would like to express our concern and support for all members of the IEEE community, our staff, our families and others affected by this health crisis. These are difficult times, but we will get through them by working together. Thank you for your support of our shared mission to advance technology for humanity.
NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Chief Guest and Conference Inauguration Speaker
We are pleased to announce that Arogyaswami Paulraj, Professor Emeritus, Stanford University, USA will be IEEE ANTS 2020 Chief Guest and Conference Inauguration Speaker.
Paulraj is an Emeritus Professor at Stanford University. He is the inventor and a pioneer of MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) wireless technology, the key to all modern wireless networks.
He has authored over 400 research publications, several text books and a co-inventor in 80 US patents. He founded three technology companies in the US which were later acquired by Intel, Broadcom and Hewlett Packard Enterprises.
His recognitions include the Friendship Award from Govt. of PR China, US Govt. National Inventors Hall of Fame, the Padma Bhushan from Govt. of India, the Marconi Prize and the IEEE Alexander Graham Bell Medal. He is a fellow of several National Academies in Arts, Eng. and Sciences in the US, China, and Europe.
Paulraj served in Indian Navy for 25 years where he developed ASW Sonar Technology and set up new Govt. R&D labs CDAC (DEITY), CAIR (DRDO) and CRL (BEL/ MoD). He joined Stanford University in 1991 after prematurely retiring from the Indian Navy

COVID-19 Updates
The ANTS 2020 Organizing Committee, with support of IEEE, has been monitoring the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. We have been studying the announcements, guidance, and news released by relevant global and national organizations, such as, the World Health Organization (WHO). The safety and well-being of all conference participants is a top priority and any changes will be announced promptly.
IEEE ANTS 2020 will now be held as a Virtual Conference (IST).The Virtual Conference will be organized by IEEE ComSoc, IEEE ANTS Committee and IIIT-Delhi.
Further details for authors/presenters and attendees will be notified once confirmed. We look forward to everyone’s virtual attendance!
Welcome
IEEE ANTS is a premier IEEE forum on advanced networking and telecommunications topics. IEEE ANTS is financially and technically supported by IEEE Communications Society. The distinguishing characteristic of IEEE ANTS is the promotion of an intense dialogue between academia and industry to bridge the gap between academic research, industry initiatives, and governmental policies. This is fostered through panel discussions, keynotes, invited talks, and industry exhibits, where academia is exposed to state-of-the-practice and results from trials and inter-operability experiments. The industry, in turn, benefits from exposure to leading-edge research in networking as well as the opportunity to communicate with academic researchers regarding practical problems.
This year the theme for ANTS 2020 is “ICT for Connecting Humanity”. Future wireless networks will be characterized by augmented data-rates, improved latency, and enhanced connectivity. In addition, the reliability-constrained wireless applications, especially those pertaining to disaster-relief are becoming more important every day. The current COVID-19 pandemic is a prime example, where information and communication technologies will prove to be even more vital, be it for critical applications such as remote diagnosis, e-commerce, online content delivery, massive surveillance, and broadcasting. Such use cases often require cyber-physical systems capable of operating with wireless links of high resilience, for which today’s wireless networks are not optimized. Additionally, this would involve innovations in every other aspect of engineering such as the development of devices, sensing techniques, networking and data processing algorithms, energy utilization, safety and security considerations and so on. ANTS 2020 will be focussed on addressing several of these services and technologies addressing these requirements. In addition to the diverse plethora of topics in this year’s ANTS, technical papers are invited which have a special focus on technologies for connecting humanity. IEEE ANTS 2020 will be held in the sprawling green campus of IIIT Delhi located at the heart of the capital and promises to be a unique platform for deliberating research aspects on the said topics.
About IIIT-Delhi
Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (aka. IIIT-Delhi or IIIT-D) was created as a State University by an act of Delhi Government (The IIIT Delhi Act, 2007) empowering it to do research and development, and grant degrees. In a relatively short time, it has earned an excellent reputation in India and abroad for being a center of quality education and research in IT and interdisciplinary areas.
Established in 2008, the institute has grown to be recognized as one of the most promising young institutions for education and research in India. Governed by the able leadership of a distinguished Board of Governors and equipped with highly qualified and accomplished faculty members, the institute has, in a short span of time, established a strong research culture, focused research groups, and innovative education programs. The institute is accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and has been accorded 12-B status by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
